Maryann E. Norwood is originally from New York and New Jersey. She graduated from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts in 1990 with a bachelor of arts in classics. After completing her undergraduate degree, she returned to Manhattan to work as a paralegal at a large New York law firm. Maryann graduated from Cornell Law School in 2000 with a concentration in advocacy. While in law school, she was Vice-Chancellor of Cornell’s Executive Moot Court Board and Managing Editor of the liibulletin-ny (Cornell’s Legal Information Institute’s on-line journal).
After law school, Maryann joined Jenkins & Gilchrist in Dallas and practiced in its litigation section, specializing in complex commercial litigation. In 2002, she joined the Dallas office of Jones Day where she continued to practice litigation until relocating to Austin.
Maryann is a member of the Texas bar and admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and the U.S. District Courts for the Northern, Southern, Western and Eastern Districts of Texas. She has been involved in mediation, arbitration and many types of litigation matters presented before both state and federal courts. Maryann’s litigation experience includes the areas of commercial, construction, tax, class action, products liability and intellectual property and encompasses cases ranging in size, complexity and subject matter - from large multiparty litigation to single party breach of contract cases. She continues to focus her practice on commercial litigation, insurance law and related appeals.
